Forget Earth hour. It's just a useless symbolic gesture designed to make people feel better and less guilt.
When is everyone going to wake up. All the scientific evidence, collected from many sources of data, suggests (read shouts) that our planet is already in trouble and that if we don't make IMMEDIATE decisions to curb our technology dependent ways, then things will get far worse. This is what needs to happen... 1. Stop all unnecessary waste of fuels from sporting events etc. 2. Ban all use of petrol and diesel powered cars within cities. 3. Give free solar panels to all homes right now. 4. Make every home water and power self sufficient. 5. Charge businesses that use the bulk of the power 10 times more to encourage them to cut back. (This can fund the free solar panels for homes) 6. Ban products that don't meet a minimum energy rating from sale. 7. Introduce a carbon tax immediately. The more carbon you personally generate, the more tax you pay. 8. Make everyone on unemployment benefits (that is able to) go out into the community to plant trees for Trees For Life. 9. Give tax incentives for companies and organisations who have paperless offices and are energy and water self sufficient. 10. Set a realistic target date for outlawing all vehicles that rely on oil or fossil fuels to drive them and offer people alternatives other than just the few thousand hybrids on our roads. "Forget Earth hour. It's just a useless symbolic gesture designed to make people feel better and less guilt. I hate things like this because they send the message that all is ok if you just flick off a switch for an hour. We don't need Earth Hour. We need Earth YEAR or DECADE."
